About shearing

Modern fine wool sheep will grow wool continuously, so it is important to shear them at least once sometimes twice per year depending on their breed genetics. Shearing is usually done in the spring, as to help the sheep regulate their body temperature and prevent overheating in the hot summer months. Sheep can also be shorn prior to winter  however they will require good nutrition and shelter from the cold weather.

Shearing is a specialized skill and physically demanding. Shearing requires skill so that sheep are shorn properly without cuts or injuries to the sheep and shearer.  Always hire a good professional shearer to shear sheep.

Wool fibers are renewable, durable and breathable.
