Our seed orders for this growing season are starting to come in. With such a mild winter here in northeast PA,  spring planting will hopefully start a little earlier this year. I can hardly wait to start planting and to see the seedlings growing in the sun.

We are expanding our garden this year in order to double our capacity. Work is well underway with the expansion and we should be complete and ready by planting time. With the corner posts set and settling over winter we just have to complete the electric fence.

We would also like to add a hoop house this year to extend the growing season. With all the work planned and wrapping up the garden extension we hope to have this in place to start some of the seedlings sooner. This will help us greatly with our short growing season and reaching the 120+ day growing season for items like watermelon and sweet potatoes. We also hope to use this to extend the growing season for our tomatoes, kale and Swiss chard past the 1st frost.

There are a few new seeds on the planting list for this year that we are very excited about.

These include the following to name but a few:

  • Flat White Boer Pumpkin
  • Giant Cape Gooseberries
  • Rouge Vif d’Etambes Pumpkin
  • Japanese Trifele Black Tomato
  • Big Rainbow Tomato

In addition to the newcomers listed above we are planing on planting our regular crop that include a large variety of tomatoes, summer squash, beans, chard, carrots, salad greens and we are also expanding our winter squash and pumpkins.

Please check back as we will be updating and expanding the Produce availability chart during the planting and growing season.
