Week 3 – Farm Basket
Welcome to Week 3! What could be in your basket this week:
Round and yellow, a perfect serving for one or two people. Lemon cucumbers have a thin skin with a milder flavor than a regular cucumber’s.
The carrots are looking great this week, they are tender and crisp. Store your carrots in a bag in the fridge.
Everybody will get purple beans this week!
Zucchini/Eight Ball/Patty Pan
The summer squash family has lots of vitamin A, few calories, and it’s simple to cook. You will have one type of summer squash in your basket!
Give (raw) peas a chance! Why not try these in a salad while they’re still fresh.
The jalapeño is a medium-sized chili pepper, especially good in Mexican recipes. Store in a paper bag in the refrigerator.
Kale/ Swiss Chard
This leafy green is full of vitamin A, K & C. With this hearty green you can make a salad ahead of time and it will still be fresh for a few days.
Beets are sweet and delicious. Check out our Pinterest link below to for a guide on how to prep beets and some delicious recipes.
